Self Reflection

1) I feel like I'm currently putting in an AE effort into my senior project. I have already completed all my hours for service learning and for my independent components. Not only have I gotten all my hours done but I have been continually contributing my skill to a lot of the ipoly clubs. During scare fair I got to school at 6 a.m. to do the horror make-up for the entire dance team and the senior class, not to mention all the extra time I spent teaching a makeup workshop for the dance team and spending my free time shopping for extra supplies they desired. After that I entered into a Halloween make-up artist competition. I have taught an hour and a half long class in the RAWR elective and offered my time for all of the production the 15-minute clubs film. I am currently working on make-up for 4 of Mr. Hogan’s plays and I will be joining the drama on their trip to Fullerton to compete with other school make-up teams. I have began finding internships and making business card to promote my make-up artistry skills since I have finally graduate two makeup courses at Ruby Make-up Academy and right now I'm working on taking a 3rd course.

2) I think I have done well in being open to developing my skills and applying myself to ever opportunity I’ve come across. I think my skills have grown tremendously since I’ve started working on my senior project.

3) I would like to improve on my laying hair pieces and time management skills.

Science Fair Proposal

1) If lipstick is used often, then bacteria content on the surface area will be high.

2) -The dependent variable would the bacterial growth.
-The independent would ingredients in the lipsticks.
-The controlled variable would be the type of lipsticks.

3) My experiment addresses proper sanitation and cleanliness of cosmetics, which is a very significant factor when handling cosmetics. My EQ is all about technique and this experiment helps me with an important technique in the makeup industry. This experiment allows me to see how much bacteria is on ones face when different brands of makeup are neglected. Amounts of bacteria applied on one's face will cause harm to clients and will of course cause harm to your reputation; which is everything when becoming an accomplished make-up artist.

4) I will buy 5 different brands of rouge lipsticks and use each of them 20 separate times. Afterward i will properly analyses them. I will have to do a lot of research on bacteria and makeup ingredients. I will need to work with Ms. Mathews and Mr. Pang to see how to properly analyses the growth of bacteria in my cosmetics and the ingredients of makeup products. I do not have my entire experiment planned out in detail but her is a list of equipment I will  most likely need:

- Journal
- Used cosmetic samples
- Microscope
- Computer
- Electrical outlet
- Writing utensil
- Data charts
- Examination Plates
- Containers
- Sanitized make-up spatula
- Hand Sanitizer
- 91% alcohol

What I've Learned So Far

1) Since I started my senior project I have learned how to properly apply make-up in the most efficient way possible. I have also learned some secrets of the trade that I would not have been able to learn from simply reading make-up books. I have greatly increase my skills since I began my commitment to this project and I am very please to see the outcome of all the time I've put into my senior project.

2)
Mastering the art of bruising and knowing the anatomy of ones face in order to create the most realistic illusions.

My first professional zombie creation. This shows my work and how I've grow since I've began my make-up classes.

Learning broken noses and puffy black eyes. Again it's all about knowing the anatomy of a face in order to create an amazing illusion.

3) The research that has helped me would be from the book "How to Make a Monster." The book contains the secrets of some of the great make-up artist of the past and how they've manage to create such unique creations. It has opened my eyes up to old techniques and lead me to experimentation which has made my work stronger. Although this book has helped me greatly i still have to admit my best research comes from my mentor Liz Mendoza, who truly is a make-up encyclopedia. She has helped me grow so much to greats that I've never dreamed of accomplishing.
